we going to start using a smaller helmet.  It is Helmet like skate boards use. It has holes so your head can breath. Your ears are not covered so you can hear commands. It fits close to your head so the inmate cannot grab it.

The Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center is hosting a Corrections Hostage Rescue Training course in July. If there is anyone interested you can e-mail me at mdegner@charlestoncounty.org or Vicki Shunkwiler at vicki@uscsog.com  With early registration by June 15th the cost per student is $1200 per week and it is a 2 week course. We will also be hosting Dynamic Cell Extraction and Close Quarters Riot Control in November.

Ron, we havent had a problem with our helmets coming off, we have helmet straps. The problem that we have found is that some times our helmets hit so hard that it yankes back on us and we get burned from the strap. But we have decided that a burn is better then a head injury LOL. The one thing that we do is everyone is fitted for the helmet.

There is no set time. When the extraction is complete and you are clear of the site. Is a good rule of thumb. While the camera and ALL the eyes are on you stay as professional as you can. We remain in full gear until we arrive back to the Special Ops house to debrief. We utilize a ballistic helmet with no Face shield. We find it more comfy.

make sure you know your use of force policy and what a use of force is

Well the problem I am assuming your having is the face shield is pushing your helmets forward. Really nothing you can do other then try not to bump that section of your helmet. We don't use face shields on out helmets. ESS googles and glasses. Plus we don't rush in the cell either. We utilize the FN 303 to gain compliance.

What kind of helmet are you using?

So when doing a cell extraction does anyone have an ideas on how to keep a helmet on?
