Corrections Nation

Hello all,

I was wondering what you guys wear for uniforms (color, dress, tactical)? I would like to change ours to something that is comfortable, practical, and a reasonable price. I was thinking T-shirt or Polo’s with BDUs or TDUs, brown or black. Our Sheriff has us in 5.11 or Blauer either or. No one matches and all the browns are different colors and people are mixing and matching.

Thank you
Angie

One thing that I have noticed working in the facility that I work is we were a blue uniform and it shows unity between the officers. If the uniforms are pressed and in a professional look it makes the inmates see just how much you care for your job and that you may actually know what you are doing.
The problem you run in to when you go to a more "tactical" style of uniform is that no one will do the up keep(press or iron them).
they think it is a wash and wear uniform ,and your department will loose that professional apperance.Lets face it, It looks like ass when someone is overweight and wearing a polo shirt and Tac pants.
I really like to the Polo and khaki bdu pants look for corrections. It still looks crisp but is a wash and wear. We are in the blauer/5.11 bdu's. I dont like them cause with blauer they switch vendors so often you cannot get the same material blend or the same size/cut from order to order. Also, they fade quickly and loose their lines. Not to mention expensive as hell. Our color is brown.
The uniform isn't what makes the officer, i have a ton of co-officers that are so out of shape and nasty, they should just leave the business in general. I think our class a's are alright.
I work for a Juvenile agency and we dont have a set uniform, as long as we are presentable.
We wear tan BDU pants with Tan BDU long sleve shirts all year round. We look like we belong in the Outback of Australia. Right now we are attempting to add an American falg patch to our uniform and i think it will add a nice touch to it and on top of that who wouldn't want to show pride for the flag everyday. I work the yard 3 days a week all summer and BDU's are not cool enough in 110deg weather.
You know bro your right those uniforms are ridiculous. If you gain any weight that bottom button starts screaming

We wear a shirt from Tru-Spec made to go under a vest take a look at my pics and you can see them
grey button downs with black bdu's and black boots/shoes with our utility belts. very professional looking. in my opinion tho, you don't want polo's or tshirts, cuz that kinda gives an air of more of a laid back atmosphere, and i would see it as a little harder to control.... but thats just my opinion.
I wear blue, black, or gray polo shirt and gray 5.11 TDU pants because I am in a specialized unit. For line officers they now have a choice of a blue polo shirt and gray BDU style pants or the Class A Gray Uniform.
wow !! we have tan BDUs and our cert team wear black BDUs we have t-shirts and polo's just depends on our work areas
