Following a officer in the US - internship.

Hi there US officers.

I am a CO from Denmark and i just wanted to know if it´s any way possible to come and follow an US officer while working, i think you call it an intership ?? Just for a week or to.

If it´s possible, what is the right procedure to do so ??

That's a cool idea. A great way to see the difference between cultures, rules/regs, systems. I would think you might want to either email or snail mail a letter to the chief/warden of several different agencies and see if you have one who takes you up on it. Sadly, I don't think my agency would do something like that. However, you may want to try asking Sheriff D. Gillespie of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Dept. They are so big and Vegas is such an international city anyway. Let me know how it goes!

I now have a arrangement with Clark County Detention Center to do a work along for a couple of days..

So I am going to Vegas january 30th and leaving february 10th. Awesome..

That's awesome Micky!! Congrats!! CCDC is huge and overcrowded. You should love it! Just you can't say "I didn't warn you" ... they are always being filmed because they have their own reality show. Go figure. You may wind up on American TV!

I'm hoping to be back to full duty by then (I am recuperating right now from the worst case of pneumonia I've ever had. It was so bad, I broke 4 ribs in multiple places and collapsed BOTH lungs!! As a result, I had surgery and am bored at home.

If I'm back to full duty by the time you do your work along, then I may have an opportunity to see you at work (I'm now a court services officer, so we go there every day). If I'm still on light duty, I won't. Either way, shoot me an email and we'll meet up for dinner or something. My personal email is: garet.b@gmail.com.
